The official launch of the Slade Point Community Garden was on 3rd
March 2019.This community initiative was originally supported by Slade
Point Neighbourhood Watch and Slade Point Bowls Club. Here we are in
2026 and Slade point Progress association has partnered with the
Garden to enable outcomes for the local community such as regular
Markets and events in the grounds.
Â
The garden produces organically grown food and herbs which is
primarily for the consumption of the small group of dedicated volunteers
who care and maintain the space.
We have introduced a garden gallery with quirky artwork scattered
around to create interest in a space that promotes engagement,
enjoyment and education
We have a garden Library available to all, to take a book or leave a
book.
Our regular working bee is Sunday 3 to 5 pm ,an ideal time to catch up
with any requests or questions, all welcome.
The generosity of the Slade Point Bowls Club has enabled the
establishment of our garden and we encourage your support. It is a
great place to grow community.
SplashFest Mackay 2026 - THANK-YOU
A great day of live music, entertainment, markets, food, family fun and coastal vibes was enjoyed by over 4000 local residents and visitors as SplashFest Mackay returned to the beautiful Slade Point foreshore!
Held during Mackay’s whale season, SplashFest celebrated our incredible local community, creativity, and coastline with a vibrant festival experience for all ages. Locals brought their picnic rugs, friends and family, and enjoyed a day by the water that was filled with connection, fun and entertainment. With plenty of local market stalls, food vendors and local community groups and art installations, the festival had something for everyone and the weather Gods turned it on for a fabulous day out. The Slade Point Progress Association wishes to thank all of those who assisted in getting the event happening for the day, including corporate sponsors, local council, performers and stall holders. We also wish to thanks all of those who attended to make it a huge success and we look forward to welcoming you all to our next event.
Community Events
We organize a range of events throughout the year to bring the community together and create memorable experiences.
From small gatherings to larger celebrations, there’s something for everyone.
